All About Frit - One Day Online Course
All About Frit - One Day Online Course
Of all the ways we can use glass, frit is arguably the most versatile. Frit is ground up sheet glass; originally a by-product of sheet glass production and now a much-loved material in its own right. In the COE90 and COE96 ranges of glass it is available in Coarse, Medium, Fine and Powder grits. Each of these grits can be utilized in any number of ways. On this day course I will demonstrate various methods of exploring frit, using techniques that utilise its potential for complexity and subtlety that can’t be achieved with sheet glass alone.
The techniques explored will include stencilling, colour gradients, frit slurry, sand art style frit pouring, frit migration and dilution, frit displacement, creating a seascape and two methods of frit casting. We will also discuss practical decision making with regards to colour choices and grit size for different sorts of projects.
This will be a jam-packed day of demos and discussion. You don’t need to buy any materials ahead of the course. Rather, you can gain all of the information from the course and decide what you would like to try afterwards. You will also receive my comprehensive written notes that you can take notes on and refer back to after the course. I will record the course, and you will be able to watch this back for two weeks afterwards.
The course will be interactive and limited to eight students to ensure you have time to ask any questions you have and there will be opportunities for discussion throughout.
Suitable for complete beginners and those with some fusing experience.
This course will be hosted on Zoom. I will email you one week prior to the course date with your course notes and you will receive your Zoom link two days ahead of the course.
Materials are not included.
Please note courses run on London time.
