An in-depth exploration of Silkemat, a versatile mould-making material. This is a demo-led course featuring a wide range of techniques using Silkemat moulds. I will show you not only how to create the moulds, but to design for and use the processes needed to use them effectively.

Projects will include - creating bespoke drop-out moulds, pot melt moulds, pattern bar formers, weaving moulds, organic slump moulds, how to make a copy of an existing mould, two types of casting moulds and a jellyfish mould.

This course is demonstration based, you don’t need to buy any materials ahead of the course. Rather, you can gain all of the information from the course and decide what you would like to try afterwards. You will also receive my comprehensive written notes that you can take notes on and refer back to after the course. I will record the course, and you will be able to watch this back for two weeks afterwards.

The course will be interactive and limited to eight students to ensure you have time to ask any questions you have and there will be opportunities for discussion throughout.

Suitable for fusers with some experience, an existing understanding of how to use commercially made moulds is beneficial.

This course will be hosted on Zoom. I will email you one week prior to the course date with your Zoom invite and the course notes.

There will be a 45 minute lunch break at approximately 12:30pm.
