Exploring Pattern - 6 Month Online Course (Tuesdays)

£225.00

An online course combining monthly live tutorials with ongoing email support, exploring a variety of pattern making techniques for fused glass from traditional pattern bars to my colour blooming process. Each month will begin with a 2-hour long video call, where I will demonstrate from start to finish that month’s technique/s. You will then get email support from me to directly support that learning during the month. You will receive my comprehensive written notes and materials list for each of the techniques, which I will email one week ahead of each session so you will know what to expect. This means that when the video call takes place you will already have a basic understanding of the process and be thinking of questions - this is the most beneficial time for face-to-face discussion.

Each session will be hosted and recorded on Zoom. The recording will be available for you to stream online throughout the month if you need to and replaced each month by the new session.

This course is suitable for both COE90 and COE96 users, with technical information and firing guides adapted for those taking the course. I teach in Celsius, but also provide Fahrenheit programs.

Maximum of six students to ensure each student is able to ask questions and participate in discussion.

Students on my six-month courses are eligible for discounts at Warm Glass and Creative Glass Guild.

This is an intermediate course, requiring a competent understanding of glass fusing skills and firing programs. If you’re a beginner or need a refresher, you may wish to take my Intro to Glass Fusing 3hr Course or Beginner Techniques 6 Month Course first. Students must have access to a glass fusing kiln and a basic wet tile saw. Material costs are each student’s responsibility and are not included with the course.

Reviews

‘I have attended several of Catherine's online classes, firstly I would like to say that she is the most enthusiastic, generous and supportive teacher I have come across in the world of glass fusion. Her lessons are well planned and very clear, accompanied by clear notes. I have loved the opportunity to learn during the pandemic, and her workshop format, a mix of demonstration and discussion, has given me lots of confidence to go off and try the techniques myself. The real benefit has been the practice at using my kiln and how it behaves - many face to face classes do not give you this opportunity. The six monthly courses allow you to get to know those learning in the group with you and the fact that we all share on social media provides vital support and encouragement - a fantastic course that I would highly recommend.’ Suzanne, 2021

I wish I had taken this course earlier in my glass making journey. Catherine’s explanations were so clear and detailed, she gave many informative tips and tricks particularly with cutting. The support, detailed written notes and motivation Catherine gives you are inspiring.
I would recommend anyone to take Catherine’s courses to boost your confidence and creative skills.
