Functional Glass Boxes - 3hr Online Course
Functional Glass Boxes - 3hr Online Course
Explore fusing and casting processes to make your own bespoke, functional glass boxes with fitting lids. Whether you want to make small trinket boxes or larger statement pieces, we will look at all of the design, construction and firing implications involved. You can make uniform shapes like squares and circles, as well as bespoke shapes. You can also choose if your lid will have a handle or not.
I will show you how to construct and fire your boxes with frit, sheet glass or pattern bars to give you complete design flexibility. As well as the box and lid making process, you will learn how to produce pattern bars to use for your box walls.
This is an intermediate course, basic fusing knowledge is essential. You will need access to a kiln.
This course is demonstration based, you don’t need to buy any materials ahead of the course. Rather, you can gain all of the information from the course and decide what you would like to try afterwards.
The course will be interactive and limited to eight students to ensure you have time to ask any questions you have and there will be opportunities for discussion throughout. The course will be hosted on Zoom.
Please note courses run on London time.
