Glass Cutting 1.5hr Tutorial
Glass Cutting 1.5hr Tutorial
A live glass cutting tutorial.
I will explain the different types of glass cutters and breaking tools available, what they are appropriate for, and I will demonstrate how to use them. I will show you how to cut straight lines, curves, circles and how to make intuitive cuts for more complicated shapes - including how to cut a heart and a gingerbread man shape. We will discuss how to follow a template to make accurate cuts and how to avoid needing a grinder for glass fusing.
I have taught hundreds of people to cut glass and understand from experience that accurate, confident glass cutting comes with practice. If you have been cutting glass for a long time and are still struggling, I will demonstrate a series of common habits that cause issues, to help you identify where you can make adjustments.
There is no ‘right’ way to cut glass, but knowing about different options will help you find what works for you.
I will not be demonstrating how to use any saws or cutting systems (such as Morton or Cutters Mate) - but I will talk about the different types available, when they are appropriate and my opinions on the different brands.
This talk will be hosted on Zoom and you will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout using the chat function. Unlike my courses which are limited to small student numbers, this tutorial will be open to up to 40 participants. This is a less personal approach than I prefer to offer, but it has allowed me to keep the cost low.
On booking, you will receive a confirmation email, and two days prior to the talk you will receive a reminder email with the Zoom link.
