Present and Display with Catherine and Peter Dunstan
Present and Display with Catherine and Peter Dunstan
Do you struggle with figuring out the best ways of displaying your work? With this course I will be joined by my dad and exhibition installer extraordinaire Peter Dunstan as we talk all about the creative and practical aspects of presenting and displaying your glass artwork in a gallery setting.
Displaying your work doesn’t need to be stressful or an afterthought, and making good choices here is not only an essential part of doing justice to your hard work but it can also add value and make it more appealing to galleries.
We will cover:
The various wall fixings available on the market, when to choose different types
Making economical choices, and when to get the pricier fittings
Case studies of different types of projects and the fitting choices made
Identifying different types of walls and how to securely fix heavy panels to them
Essential tools for DIY installation
Options for display stands, from commercially sold to bespoke made to made from glass
Options for lightbox framing
Thoughts on utilising negative space and broader considerations for how artworks are positioned in a space
Opportunity to discuss your own work and specific display considerations
Exhibitions Peter has installed include PROCESS at Blowfish Gallery, New Beginnings at Prior Gallery and Catherine’s stand at Made in Chelsea.
Maximum of 10 students to ensure individual attention and opportunity to discuss your work.
