A decorative style

I combine the versatility of kiln-formed glass with the structure of traditional leaded stained glass. I can create designs based on a client’s ideas, or I can look at your space and propose ideas. My style is highly decorative and embellished with lots of delicate hand-cut details that are fused to the glass before the pieces are leaded into the panel.

Currently I can offer this service within an hour of Bristol. If you are further away but interested in commissioning me, please email me and we can discuss the possibility of making it work.

How it works

Initial Consultation - If you have a window or space in your home or place of business that you’d like me to create a window for, I will come in person for an initial consultation. This costs £30, but counts towards your deposit if we go ahead with your commission. During this consultation I will assess the space, measure it, observe the light levels and we can discuss your ideas. I will then create a series of rough sketches for your design and give you a rough idea on price.

Second Consultation - We will discuss my design ideas, look at glass choices and then I will create a to-scale template/final design mock-up, final quote and lead time. At this point you will decide if you would definitely like to go ahead with the commission. If you decide to proceed I will charge a non-refundable 20% deposit ahead of purchasing materials and beginning work on your panel. The payment of the deposit confirms a contractual obligation to proceed with the commission and commitment to the final design. I am unable to make changes to a design once work has commenced.

Contact During Construction - If you would like to be updated on the progress of your panel during construction, I’m happy to facilitate this. Some clients find the production process interesting and it can be fun to see it coming together! While others like the surprise of seeing it once completed.

Payment of Final Invoice - When the panel is complete I will send you a series of photographs to confirm. Payment is due ahead of delivery of the panel. I will never alter my quoted price, even if it takes me longer than anticipated to build. I will deliver the panel personally, on a board.

Fitting - Fitting of the panel is the client’s responsibility, but if you are Bristol-based, I can recommend a glazier. I like to leave this part to the fitting experts.

What it costs

The final cost of the panel is very dependent on the complexity of the design and how much of it utilises kiln-forming techniques. As a rough guide, an embellished panel like the ones in the images on this page cost approximately £250 per 12” square. This means that a fanlight design will cost in the region of £750-£1000. Less embellished panels, or classic stained glass will cost less.

How long it takes

I do lots of different types of glass-making and teaching and fit in the production of panel commissions around my other work. This means that my lead times vary, and this will be discussed during our initial consultation. As a guide, a lead time usually falls between three weeks and three months.
